Job description
Join the ocean lifeguards team in North Myrtle Beach and spend your days guarding the Atlantic Ocean. Imagine how tanned you will be at the end of the summer.
To become an ocean lifeguard at the beach you have to be a good swimmer, eligible to swim 500 meters in less than 10 minutes and able to act quickly.
After arrival in North Myrtle Beach, you will participate in the 7-day Lifeguard Academy. Returning guards should attend a 2- day recertification.
All applicants must provide the employer with a Criminal Background Check as The Beach Patrol is a Division of City Municipality.
Wage and housing
WAGE:
First-timer: $18/hour with bonus of $800
Returning guards: increase of 0.50 cents/hour for each season (up to $20)
Guards hours are 9am to 6pm and on the stand at 9.30 am to 5.30 pm.
Days per week: 5-7, Hours per week: 40 guaranteed, 40-60 in average
Bonuses: up to $700.00 for those that qualify
HOUSING:
Still working on housing but it appears it will be the same as last year. $200.00 deposit and $150.00 week, all utilities included.
Students can find also 3-month rentals in hotels or motels in the area. The expected cost of housing $300 – 500/month + security deposit. Utilities are usually included.
